Hi DMM WG,

This email provides our answers for the questions raised for the document
"draft-dcn-dmm-cats-mup-04" (Computing Aware Traffic Steering Consideration
for Mobile User Plane Architecture)
 at IETF 121 meeting.

Q1 (from John): how to handle the stateful-service based on the CATS? i.e.,
always stick to the same service instance.
- Answer:
> We mentioned about the method for handling this scenario in UE mobility
handling procedure for both Centralized (Section 4.1.4) and Decentralized
(Section 4.2.4) CATS-MUP deployment options.
> The MUP Controller (MUP-C) is aware of the need for keeping connection to
the previous instance before mobility thanks to SSC mode information.
Hence, after moving, MUP-C provides previous instance information to the
RAN Provider Edge entity that UE move to. After previous service flow is
completed or after stateful service migration is completed, MUP-C can ask
the RAN PE to change route to the new optimized instance.

Q2: (sorry i cannot find the email of the person who asked): CATS related
metrics are not yet stable; concerns are they might lead to routing
instability. Thus, suggestion is to talk to BGP team.
- Answer:
> This instability concern has been discussed and addressed in both IDR and
CATS WG:
> In Section 7 of draft-ietf-idr-5g-edge-service-metadata: Update frequency
can be set at least 30 seconds for frequent change metric to mitigate
instability routing issue
> In draft-ietf-cats-metric-definition: CATS metric can be normalized to
higher level, which combines many raw metrics into one, reduce instability
> In our point of view, a change threshold can be set to avoid frequent
change of metric. Another method is using the centralized MUP for
collecting the metrics and only applying route change when it is necessary.

We're glad to hear your feedbacks
Best regards,
Minh-Ngoc
