Ah yes, I was thinking about that just after posting it.  I generally 
release code under GPLv3 and will make that explicit unless anyone 
convinces me that that license would create t0o many conflicts.  I would 
think since it is just a bunch of shell scripts it wouldn't cause many 
problems (not linking to anything else).

I've never used any other batch system, so I can say much about this. 
But it does strike me as very gridengine specific, although the approach 
may be transferrable.
