HI  there,

just want to make sure i understand what's going on here, in case it's
a problem for my system

If I launch a single process (one of the distribution's tests) under dmtcp-2.4.1

DMTCP_CHECKPOINT_INTERVAL=30 dmtcp_launch  ./dmtcp1

should it then start to checkpoint every 30 seconds ?

I do see all the relevant info as the spawned co-ordinator starts

dmtcp_coordinator starting...
    Host: somehost.ecs.vuw.ac.nz (IP.AD.DR.ESS)
    Port: 7779
    Checkpoint Interval: 30
    Exit on last client: 1

but I'm not seeing any checkpoint files created.

What I have observed so far, in looking to get a handle on things, is
that even when I start a stand-alone co-ordinator

DMTCP_CHECKPOINT_INTERVAL=30 dmtcp_coordinator

and then launch a process that joins to it, I still need to initiate the
first check point, by typing a 'c' to then get checkpoints at intervals.

So, the interval checkpoiting infrastructure is there and working, but
should it be automatic ?

Our systems are ArchLinux; 4.0.5-kernel; DMTCP compiled with GCC 5.1.0
