Hey Josh,

I checked out the new tracks. By the way, the MP3.com
page is looking much nicer. Let me start with the
positive. I would give my right arm to be able to
program beats like that! You're drum work always
blows my mind. Those barrages of beats just come
raining down on your head. Beautiful.

Now the bad news, I think the melodies and harmonic
movement are major weaknesses. That piano line in
"Never Really There" really got monotonous after about
8 measures or so, plus it sounded pretty hot in the
mix, almost making the drums hard to hear at times.
Also, that slobbery bass sound on "Only Feeling" was
pretty cool, but too crowded. In general I think
you're melodies would greatly improve if you put more
time into wisely using space. You know what I mean?
Like if the phrases stretched across multiple measures
and the notes landed on odd upbeats with funky
accenting and stuff like that. Also, the harmonies
cycle through maybe 2 or 3 chords moving up and down
throughout almost the entire song. Nothing surprising
ever happens and it never feels like you use harmony
to create and resolve tensions which is one of the
main things you want your harmonic development to be
doing.

I think if you're melodies and harmonies were a bit
more intricate, you would be killin because your beats
are there man. Spot on. These tracks are great for
the beats alone, but if you work to make things a bit
more melodically/harmonically interesting you'll have
nothing but straight smashers!

easy.
