hm there is not much need to go scsi for the hdd, i have a maxtor
diamondmax60 at 7200rpm with an average seek of less than 9ms. slower =
quieter. but if you are familiar or need scsi then go for it i guess..
i havent tried xp for audio but win2k is really good imo.
what mobo are you looking at? im not too sure but i think that there are
some compatibility issues with ALi chipsets and some sound cards. may want
to check into that.

Subject: [dnb-prod] Computer Check: Need your advice

What's up all,

OK, I've been in the market for a new PC for a while
and I've been paying close attention to all the
computer related e-mails I get from this list. I've
done a little homework, and I have a basic idea of
what I think I need for my computer setup, but I want
to run it past all you headz first to see if you think

this set-up will work without a hitch for music
production with Logic Audio. Here's what I'm thinking
of getting:

1.4 GHz AMD Athlon
10,000 rpm SCSI drive
average seek speed under 10ms
.5-1GB DDR SDRam
M-audio Audiophile 2496 soundcard
Windows XP OS

So what do you think? Anything you would recommend I
change or add? Is there a specific type of CDRW I
should get or a specific cooling fan or something?

For further reference, here is the equipment I will be
using it with:

Korg MS2000 Virtual Analog synth
Roland SP808ex phrase sampler
Roland JV1010 sound module
Alesis airFX
Alesis airSynth (on order)
Alesis nanocompressor
Technics P30 digital piano
Alesis MKI monitors with amp
Behringer 8-channel Mixer

I've learned a ton from this list already that I'm
very grateful for. Any extra advice you can give me
on this issue will be greatly appreciated too.

easy.

-Cory
