I was reading back over the canonical "ghost notes" essay and the author
urges that, wherever possible, use stereo drum loops. Now, I normally use
individual mono drum hits panned around the stereo field, so I'm guessing
the advice doesn't apply to me, but when I do sample a break, it's almost
invariably in mono. My sample cds have mostly mono samples, and my sampler
(an Akai S2000) doesn't really recognize stereo samples as such, so I
usually end up sampling in mono. Am I wrong in thinking that some reverb
could easily remedy the situation?

I was thinking of upgrading my sampler, and now seems to be a good time to
do so. Most dnb producers swear by Emu, but why would I shell out $1700 for
an E6400 when I can get an S5000 or an A5000 for $1000. Yeah, I know, the
filters, but if the modulation matrix is anything like that on my Morpheus,
I'd rather stick with something a little more straightforward. I'm *very*
interested in Akai's Z series, should I wait until they come out before I
buy a new sampler? Thanks!
