Someone please correct me if I am wrong in this answer.  I am pretty sure using a
ground lift is okay, as long as you use the same source of power for all your gear.
That way you still have a common DC value betwen all your gear (hopefully zero).
What I would do....  take the Edison panels off, and check to see if you can rewire
it with a new outlet that does have the third pin.  Do so by looking at the wire
that feeds the outlet.
