Yeah, this is pretty much how I do it, too...
It's definitely not as musically developed of a technique, but it feels 
more like my feelings flowing straight out of me through my fingers and 
into the synths and samplers and stuff.

But, on the other hand, I'm always coming up with beats in my head... So 
many that I have to beat box them or slap them out on my leg or 
something just so I don't go crazy.
