Halion's shit filters make it pretty much unusable for dance music although there might be a fix in the latest update. Gigasampler is highly regarded but it's main strength seems to be that it can stream huge samples from hard disk which is only really useful if you're writing orchestral music, plus it only runs as a standalone. My favourite is Emagic's EXS24, less features than Halion but the filters are the best you'll hear. Forget it if you're not using Logic though, the VST version doesn't let you use your own samples. Emu announced a software version of the E4 at NAMM in January so you might want to hang on for that. Also, Native Instruments Kontakt is due out soon and if it's anything like their other plugins it should be pretty good.
