I'm with you here. D&S tunes are no more than drum breaks taken off sample CDs, and stolen stabs arranged in the more simplistic way. Oh, and add a deep sub bass...
Build the main loop, write the intro adding the elements one by one.. let if loop until the end. The result is a 5 minutes tune by the most overated d&b producers nowadays... Sure, I like some of their tunes, but can't believe this "See? We've got a another one ready to go!" can fill an astist's creative desire... -Peace- Turbo Hz ----- Original Message ----- From: "Daniel Norman" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Drum & Bass Arena Discussion List" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Wednesday, March 13, 2002 7:19 PM Subject: [dnb-prod] Umm.... > Hi > > Slightly off topic, > > But... > > You know how most of us slave over our tunes constantly trying to make them > different but roughly equal in quality to the ones by established producers > in the hope of writing something good enough to send off. > Have a listen to Digital and Spirits new tune (love is love) on the D+B > arena dubplate focus. > > Er, filler alert - these guys rock when on form, but to make a track like > that using the bog standard Horizons break and the break they always use > (since day one) with some dodgy stabs when they can do stuff like Gateman > and Final Chapter is just lazy...Champion Bubbler is a bit lame too...do we > dig those 2 bar standard breaks switching back and forth like it was 1996? > Soz - just had to get that one out, my 2p worth... > > They aren't awful tunes and they are fairly well produced, it just seems > like they could try harder considering they don't have a day job to > juggle... > Laters > > Dan > > (maybe i'm bitter, he, he) > > > DISCLAIMER: The Information in this message is confidential and may be > legally privileged.
