Ok...It's not hardware, its not XP, = it's probably=20 the the sound card...SB Live cards are appaling in all ways at the best = of=20 times...I'm running Cubase+Reason+XP+SB Live here, and the sound card = just=20 sucks.
1: Make sure you have decent drivers = (no, not=20 Creative ones, see www.kxdev.com ...=20 Make sure you're using the most recent software, Reason, Cubase, AND = your=20 plugins. be very careful if using Warezed soft; try to avoid stuff = that's=20 cracked by PDX/Paradox.....

Subject: [dnb-prod] Weird = Cubase CPU=20 usage probs

Wassssup listys..

I'm having a bit of a = nightmare=20 with Cubase and Reason at the moment.. Just when I thought it was = running=20 sweet it seems to have gone tits up for no reason!!

Basically = I'm=20 running Cubase 5.1R1 with Reason 1.0.1 on WinXP with An RME multiface=20 Hammerfall and an SBlive..

I could go into mad detail about the = probs=20 I'm having but they're fairly common and mostly revolve around the CPU = usage=20 getting maxed out.
(running a few plugins only on a 1.4 Athlon = shouldn't=20 be a prob!)... The thing that really confuses me though is = this:

If I=20 solo a channel on the Cubase mixer then the CPU usage jumps by about = 20% !!!=20 What's that all about? If I mute all the other channels instead of = soloing=20 then it's OK ??!

Anyone ever heard of this=20 before?

cheers,

Nick
