The lowest frequency the human ear can interpret is 20hz BUT creating and modulating a frequency below that (with the right PA system) will allow the audience to FEEL the music, literally. It still expands and retracts creating the air particles in the room to do the same...the result is a sort of humming in your chest. So as far as audible bass goes 50hz is about right...if you going for that subliminal affect as well...boost the gain on a lower frequency.
