Hi Been away for a week, but if anyone likes the idea of a 32 channel inline very compact clean quiet mixer with nice EQ (16 main EQ/FX channels plus 16 for recording monitoring coming back from the multitrack - but you can conveniently use them for 16 additional synth outputs etc, sources etc and combine them with the main 16 for a full 32 channels at once) - have a look on the internet for an Alesis Studio 32 - they are now about $500/500 - i have had one for a year now and they are sweet. Sound on Sound (who are quite critical) thought they were cool too...check their review

I'm happy with it, it does what it needs to do for me and is really quiet. Over the years it developped one dodgy fader so that the sound of that channel drops out when I turn it up all the way (but then, I never do that), and about 2 years ago it suddenly broke down in the night (I used to leave it on all the time), emitting a very loud noise that freaked me out (happened while I was sleeping... it took a while before I figured out what was happening). I have to say though that I tried some other brands but never *really* used one, so I can't really make a comparison.
