emulator will only emulate... never forget this. if you like the fx from that tube thing, use it. You could end up disliking the true tube distortion. I had the luck to still record bands with a studer 1/2 inches 24 track machine, before digital stuff came and change the market. No other thing as that BIGNESS until now. For that you can try to find a friend with a reel to reel machine and run your mixes thru there, you will see the diference for sure.
Waves work in the pro realm... but they do not make work for you (as T-Racks does). In waves you can acssess loads of paramters but you better learn them before regreting. Well used, waves kick ass. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: Drum & Bass Arena Discussion List <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Tuesday, May 14, 2002 3:08 AM Subject: [dnb-prod] waves/hyperprism fx > i've been using the hyperprism dx fx package for some time now and just got the same from waves. my ears are finally getting to the point that i can distinguish between different brands of fx and the difference between these packages and those included with, for instance, fruity is pretty apparent. however, i don't have pro monitors or enough experience and knowledge to really know what i'm going for in certain instances; for example, when compressing the mix. i was wondering if anyone had any experience with these packages and has any advice or opinions regarding the specific effects. do you think the compressors and reverbs in them are 'pro quality'? in certain instances i actually sometimes prefer fruity's built in fx but this just doesn't seem right. in particular, what do you think of hyperprism's tube/tape saturation plugin? not having had much experience with the genuine article, i can't say how realistic an emulation it is. i kind of like to put the whole mix through it on a low gain setting, but this just doesn't seem 'proper'. also, if anyone could lead me to a pdf of the manuals for these packages it would be helpful as some of the more esoteric ones are a bit non-intuitive. (the, uh, dog ate my hard copy.) finally, can anyone recommend any other good packages of plugins? thanks to those that read this whole message. > > ethik > > --- > Drum&Bass Arena Producers Discussion List http://www.breakbeat.co.uk > You are currently subscribed to dnb-prod as: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] > --- Drum&Bass Arena Producers Discussion List http://www.breakbeat.co.uk You are currently subscribed to dnb-prod as: [email protected] To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
