well, if you don't have a sampler and it sounds like
you don't, then you gotta do some file conversion to
get your audio into wav or aiff format.

Actually I have a numark dm-1295 and a boss dr sample sp202 (not that that thing isn't a piece of sh*t anyway).

most of my samples come off of cds.  i usually find a
sound i like, then rip the tune to a wav from the cd
and proceed to soundforge where i chop it up (anyone
have a *demo* of soundforge's cd exractor plugin??).

there are tons of free cd rippers and mp3 to wav
converters out there.  just goto download.com.

I'd been using a few different rippers and this converter that I bought from Yuansoft a while ago.DB powerAMP has a nice package of both.

to get a sample off of a record onto your computer
directly, you're gonna need a soundcard with inputs
from your record player.

I'm working on a new soundcard since the input from my tables weren't working.  What program could you use to make that extraction?  what format does it end up in?

hope that helps.

btw, people prefer plain text emails here....

I really apologise for that.  i didn't realize i was senging html funk.  i really hate aol and options for sending plain text are not so apparent. i'm going to switch to a different email address.
