Hmm...

That first break sounds like a *very* common break. Used in many, many hip
hop tunes, Sneaker Pimps also used it in Six Underground. Klute used it on
.... ummm.... where's my Klute album? There's actually a copy of it in
Reason called "Brassic". I used it my track "Chazm"
(http://www.gasmrecordings.com/realaudio/chazm.ram (although it's very
layered - i used it to establish the rhythm more than for the actual
sounds). I admit tho, i never knew the original source -- thanks for that
Skullsnaps ID =)

The second break is easy too (umm...sorry =) "Give it up or turn it loose"
The immortal Cylde Stubblefield on James Brown's "Sex Machine" album. The
full break has a bit of JB's vocal in it (like the one on Cannibal). I got
my copy of it from http://www.phatdrumloops.com .

These just happened to be two of my favorite breaks. So... what do i win?

peace,
trust

2 breaks layered:

The harder of the 2 being the Skullsnaps "_ _'_ a _ _ _ _ _ _" break.
LOL...got to make you work for it a little bit.

In Hip Hop you'd know this break from Gangstarr's "Take It Personal" - but
their sample of the skullsnaps break sounds like ass on that record. I dig
Premier's production - but back then SP1200 samples were cRUnCHy....errr

I'm pretty certain Krust used it as a layered break in Warhead that drops in
on the 17th bar but I can't tell for sure... His drum samples are so thin
and minimal sounding on that tune.

A friend in LA (Egon) was given a reissue cd from the band member after
interviewing him.
All I can say it that beat is soooooooo clean from the CD - whereas
the vinyl copy I had was lacking bigtime.
Can you tell I was stoked to get a clean copy?

OK so here's where somebody shoots me down... :]
"naw mate I had that break ages ago - got it from Rusty Moves Record store"

The second break that I used has a bongo behind it - you can hear it clearly
solo mid bridge in "Codebreaker". It's from a sample cd of early 90's hip
hop breaks from Scarface Records "Classic Beats and Breaks Vol. 1"
I like to call it "break 28" ;] no one has ever nailed down the
origination of that one in my circle of crate digging friends...
any one know here?

Sonic used it on the Fuze release #29 "Cannibal"

So now that I've given you too many hints to make these way easy to find -
go hunt them down.
