keep twisting the knob... if it's just dust it'll get shifted to either end of the pot and the contacts won't crackle so much. it worked on my old guitar amp, not sure about ickle mixer pots tho. (i deny all responsibility for broken knobs as a result of this!)
also some cheapo soundcards (i'm not dissing anyone's kit out there - promise!) crackle when the sound channels are open/closed and during quiet bits of audio... I assume it's just dirt in the knob's pot... I've never tried to clean it but I'd hope it wouldn't be any more complicated than that to sort it out?!? Nick -----Original Message----- From: Jurgen Baute [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: 14 August 2002 11:00 To: Drum & Bass Arena Discussion List Subject: [dnb-prod] Crackling (was Re: headphones) talking crackling, does anyone know how it's caused? I have these PC speakers, which are surprisingly good actually, but whenever I touch the volume knob, I get crackling in my right speaker. The right speaker is connected to the left btw, which has all the controls (vol, bass, terble) and has the power supply & audio I/O plugs. Basicly I make sure both speakers play properly, and then NEVER tough the volume knob again, using only software volume control. ------------------------ On 13 Aug 2002 at 11:54, Piet Hadermann wrote: > Because I refuse to admit that I shouldn't have bought them and because I > keep telling myself I'm going to open them up and solder the wires directly > to the speakers (but I guess I'm kind of lazy). :-/ > > Bah...
