what's your budget? www.accessmicro.com has some great prices on laptops
running amd processors... i'm only saying this cause it sounds like
850-1300MHz processors with 128mb of ram wouldn't give you that much to work
with, but maybe i'm just being a little too pessimistic. if you're gonna
invest money in a laptop, save up and buy the nicest thing you can afford...
cause i'm sure the last thing you want is to have it for a week and then
feel more limited than you thought you'd be.

Subject: [dnb-prod] Portable for production (too)

I know there was discussion about laptops & production, but i never payed
attention at it, because I tought it`s not for me. But now I`ve got new job
&
laptop as well, I simply have to choose. Maybe there is brands or models
especially good or not so good for production, if anyone have any advice,
I`ll
appreciate it.

My setup will be something like this:
Cubase SX (week ago i thought that Logic 5.0 is everything I need, but SX is
better - yeah!)
Reason 2.0
SoundForge 6.0
Reactor 3.0
and loads of VST`s

Of course this notebook is not for production only, its primary for
networking
stuff, and I`m kind of limited on budget too. Some of alternatives are:

ComPaQ EvoN160 C933MHz/14"/20/128/DVD/M/NIC/Win2K
HP OB XE3 PIII850/128/20/14"TFT/DVD/NIC/56k/W2K
HP OB XE4100 C1.13/128/20/14"/FDD/CD/NIC/XP Pro
IBM R31 C1.06/128/20/14TFT/CD/MOD/ETH/WXP HOME
TOSHiba Satellite Pro 6000PIII1000/128/20/14TFT/CD

any ideas?

ouch - I`ll need some kind of soundcard for it too.. but thats later ;)
