Ok, I have a pretty standard bass here, an overdriven 808 sample. I
would like to split it into a high and a low component to send it
through my EMU's filters, but I'm not getting the results I want. The
way I did it was I set up two filters in Waves Q10 EQ with steep curves
and made the split at 125Hz. Unfortunately, this basically created a
notch filter around that frequency, and the two split samples played
together definately didn't sound as good as the original sample. I know
I need to do some fiddling around to get it right for this specific
sample, but I was wondering if anyone had any tips about what works well
for this? I had thought that 125Hz was "mud" in the mix so that's where
I made the split, should I be doing it at a different frequency? Also,
could I best reduce the notch filter effect by overlapping my filters,
by giving them less steep of a curve or something else I'm not seeing?
Is there a better plugin to do this with than Waves?

Thanks,
Auraphage
