Go for a Teac. I've had a Teac (24x) for 6 months, not written a single coaster, plus the writing quality (with Mitsui CD's especially) is excellent (low BLER) so it'd be good for writing masters for duplication. To top it all off it's *really* good at ripping audio/data from damaged CD's, something I'm sure we all find useful sometimes. :)
The current highest speed model (40x i think) is AFAIK the same drive with better firmware and validated for higher speed so the same should be true. I don't know the cost in the UK, but judging by the cost of it here (Greece) the 24x model should set u back about 60 quid.
