Use two instances of SR-202? It means duplicating settings but they'll be seperate...

Hello, im just starting to try and mess around with things such as
ghosts, snare and hits, you know, same hi hats and snares but at slightly
different volumes and other things like adding subtle fx to a copied hit or
snare etc,and layering the copy over original to give it all a bit more
ooomph! .Anyway, im using cubase 5.1 and using plugins such as sr 202 drum
machine. Now say for example if i want to do some of the above things ie,take
a copy of a loop ive constructed, and then mess with the volumes,fx etc on
the hihats and snare parts,... well whats the way to do it without effecting
the original. I mean, ive got the drum loop on say midi channel 5 (sr202) and
ive copied the loop and put it on midi chn 6(sr202) now obviously when i
change anything on the sr202 instrument itself or in the vst mixer, any
change, say for example just the volume, will effect both of them as there
using the same machine. So is the only way to do this,by recording onto audio
chanel and messing with it like that?

sorry for the simpleton question!

cheers ,

Andy.
