Morning all Much happier now. I put the DVD/CDRW as a slave to the old HD on IDE 1 and put the new HD on IDE 2. I used a new cable that came with the CDRW, so that might have helped...All detected fine.
My BIOS can't handle drives over 33gb, but i moved the jumper on the Maxtor to the Limit Size pins and now it works as the secondary slave. Better than nothing so i partitioned it into 2 sections, one of 3gb for backing up my old HD contents for safekeeping and 29.5gb for music files. I now have two new FAT32 drives in My Computer, but now i just need to know how to install Win98SE on the 2 new partitions - what you do? I stuck the discs in, but don't know what to do....do you have to approach it from DOS? Thanks for all the help, Dan --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
