I would definitely recommend the MOTU 828.
If you have firewire this is definitely the way to go.
It is basically a scaled down version of the Protools
in/out hardware that has been out for many years.
This device could easily be compared to the Digi 001 -
but does not have the latency issues that plagued the Digi 001.
I had used the Digi 001 and had sworn it off until they could sort out the
issues it had with latency. So a friend had purchased a MOTU 828 I checked
it out and it works flawlessly. Given - I am on a Mac G4 with Firewire and
many PCs do not come with Firewire - but if you have it - take a look at the
828. I purchased mine from Ebay for total of $450 after shipping. Retail -
I think they are more like $700. Works seemlessly with Reason, Cubase SX,
Rebirth, Deck, Peak, an many other software audio applications.
