I have a Toshiba Satellite 5005-S504 Notebook Computer.
It's pretty nice, 15" screen, 1.1Ghz, 512MB RAM, etc...
However, I feel that the performance is being affected by
everything that's pre-installed. I've uninstalled all obvious junk
but I wish I could start clean.

Unfortunately, that's not possible because I only have Recovery Discs
which basically equals a cloned hard drive. Now I've heard that I can
do a fresh install of OS and drivers on my own. The only problem lies
in getting all of the correct drivers.

Does anyone know how to go about doing something like this?
