I think what he means by "call and response" can be discerned by listening to some blues. :)
You have one "riff" or melodic arrangement that seems to ask a "question" - and then you have one that follows it that seems to "answer" or "resolve" the question. It'd probably be easier to show you than to explain over here (talking about music is like dancing about architecture). You wanna drag this over and work on it soon mang? what date did we agree upon again? I'll pop on AIM right now and we'll talk. :) respect! ~Andy > -----Original Message----- > From: Chris Cisneros [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sent: Monday, March 31, 2003 1:39 PM > To: Drum & Bass Arena Discussion List > Subject: [dnb-prod] RE: Magnafide & Talon - Fortnight > > > --- David Martin <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > yes, listening to it now. > > > > very smooth, simple and rolling, i like this style. > > > > couple suggestions: some shakers in a sixteenth-note > > pattern would add > > some forward motion.. > > i like the break you're using; the synth line sounds > > like a call + > > response pattern that's missing > > the response section. i keep waiting for a > > resolution but it never > > comes. i'd like to hear a few > > more incidental sounds, spacial effects, etc. > > > > also, i can't hear the bass. bear in mind, i'm > > listening at work on > > laptop speakers so i'll > > have to give it another listen when i get home. > > > > thumbs up on this one. good work. > > > > Dave > > * > Hey, thanks a lot for your comments, Dave.
