But my god, some people go overboard on there tracks when really, all they needed was just a little eq instead of using a million and one compressors.
But dilly and Total are prime examples of it being used correctly.
But anyway, i'm not here to have a dig cos it's stupid to say compression is pointless cos it ain't. My problem was that people go on about it like it's the sole thing to make their tunes sound good and we all know that ain't true. As everyone says, "you can't polish a turd" :o)

amen. plus, compression can be a very creative tool, take a listen to total science, they are often doing really cool things with compression. there would be no dillinja bass without compression :)

hey jimbo,
i'm actually really interested in moving towards an approach that utilizes
compression a lot less.
now i'm getting to a point where i can find a tune's sweet spot pretty easy
and cutting around it isn't difficult at all. however i wouldn't be
surprised if one would have to get a little more creative with EQing.
I don't know if you take the same approach as your friend nick, but would
you happen to have any tips on non-compression-inclusive production? or does
anyone here know of any sites that might have some sort of comparison or FAQ
on this kind of thing?
