Long live breaks!!!!... ( at 170bpm naturally)....

Who said D&B had to be 170bpm???  What about 120bpm????

Thats another thing that pisses me off about the current scene.  D&B was here since 1989, when Acid House started to use breakbeats and reggae / funk basslines.  Yet everyone still thinks that D&B is this really specific musical style from 1996 to today.  This is stifling production because people are working in this very specific style, rather than exploring all there is of D&B.  DJ's are guilty of pigeon holing themselves in this really specific type of style in their sets as well.
In the Ardkore D&B era, people would produce tracks with house beats, reggae beats, and all kinds of different musical elements.  The Hardstep style introduced a new type of beat, the Tech beat.  Unfortunately, for the past 8 years, this specific Hardstep style has been dominant to the point where it is rare to even see a breakbeat or a reggae / funk bassline in the music anymore...
This is all really sad, because to eleminate those elements from the music, would be to eliminate what made D&B different from Acid House and Hardcore Techno.  Maybe we're all just in a huge regression back to Acid House and Hardcore Techno???
