Thanks for getting back to me on that, its always interesting to see how other people
make music and what equipment gets used.

If that tune was done only using reason + samples and maximised a little in SF then
your doing a really great job of selling Reason to me.
I already have the supernova and morpheus synths for sampling like you do (i do that
anyway atm), so thats fine.

Do you have much trouble with Reason choking your PC or is an 800mhz fine for getting
your tunes finished (i understand that Reason is far more efficient than other
software for producing an entire song) - do you have to bounce much in Logic? I'm
guessing that any of the new P4 2ghz and over would be more than adequate given that
Nick Lankester gets 30 audio tracks out of a AMD2.2????

I think i would keep the desk and a bit of outboard to route the Reason sound through
and rerecord into a wave editor so it wasn't entirely soft (or just sell all of it
apart from the PC, cease being anal and be happy with it all, hehe 8)

All the best,

Dan

hehehe thanks daniel :)

actually ethereality is getting released! since it's toni braxton on the one
i posted, i had to re-record vox... they're different... i'm going to finish
the mixdown today. :) it's coming up on the label "Drum and Bass studio"
headed up by dave stoddard of atm magazine.

(props to terry morgan for passing it along! you rock!)

yep, that's my setup. reason 2.5, i rewire only when i do final mixdowns -
the version i posted was straight out of reason with a little maximization
in sound forge via waves l1 ultramaximizer.

i have a shitty pc cause i can't afford a new one. p3 800mhz, 512 mb ram,
audiophile 2496 sound card by m-audio, studiophile bx8 monitors running
through a behringer eurorack 10ch mixer, and i have a virus indigo that i
only use for sampling atm (i haven't tried to figure out how to set it up in
logic).

the dell's been ok, they're good because they're built optimized... but you
could build a better one more designed for your needs... next computer i get
is going to be built from scratch, no doubt.

anyway... thanks for the compliments, and i hope i was of some help! going
all-software isn't so bad, it's just a different way of working... and you
might have to try harder to get away from sounding so soft-synth at first
but if you know how you want something to sound you can always eak it out.
i'm still working at it... :)

ez.
