Are you sure it's still showing them, the news client may have cached the group names. try connecting manually and doing this telnet localhost 119 list active control.* Does it still list them ? if so try this: tellnews test_access 1.2.3.4 [user pass] And see what that responds, and send me the results together with your current access.conf
