The first rule in access.conf is the following -

*:logoff:::

Rules are applied in order, and the LAST rule matches. Don't give access to people who don't need it. If you need to ban specific IP addresses, you can add additional logoff rules at the end.

If you will ban one special IP, put in your access.conf.

## BEGIN MANUAL PART2 - Anything here will be preserved
66.227.143.161:logoff:::!*
*.bellsouth.net:logoff:::!*

The first line is banned by IP, the second line by domainname.
The * is a mark for all newsgroups.

I believe the line belowe is giving the error_msg and is placed in
dnews.conf.

Tnx Rob, I invoked it like this, and it seems to work. But that brings another question to my mind.... Instead of banning all kind of IP's manualy, can't I just add the following line as the last one in acces.conf: *.*.*.*:logoff:::!* As the acces.conf is read line by line, wouldn't this result in logging off all IP's except the ones that are allowed in the previous lines??
