Suddenly today the problem was back..
Dnews 5.7c1 is running on a W2000 server. I have installed the process for
the full text search. In the taskmanager i could see that dnews was
consuming all possible processor capacity. Stopping and restarting dnews
solved the problem for a few minutes. Suddenly i discovered that the problem
occured every 10 minutes (08, 18, 28, 38, 48, 58). I also noticed that the
ftsfeed file was already 138 KB (which normaly stays below a few kb).
Stopping the process "dfts ftsfeed -fts -at *8 * -user x -pass x" also
solved the problem (back to normal CPU consumption).
I have enclosed the file ftsfeed.log Some interesting information is in
it.......
Ineteresting, it appears that while fts is fetching the
items for indexing the server is struggling.
I'd be keen to see a
tellnews stats
after such an event.
