You set it up exactly the same as normal, it's automatically a transit host.
Be sure to create the groups.
In access.conf use 'ihave' to grant transit access.
1.2.3.4:read,post,ihave:::*
502 is a fairly general error response so I'm not quite sure what you are asking in relation to enabling 502 ? Can you clarify.
