Well, a mostly new install, anyway... I did follow the instructions in the
FAQ to copy the spool over from the old Windows installation to the new Linux
installation. That seems to have worked well.
Problem 1 is setting the server to run at boot. According to the manual, I
should add /usr/local/dnews/dnews_start.sh to /etc/rc.d/rc.local.
Unfortunately, this is a SuSE system (9.2 to be precise) and rc.local doesn't
exist. Can you point me to the equivalent process for SuSE?
Problem 2 is that I'm seeing a bunch of repetitions of this in the log:
4 16:10:49.721 :info: db_piles_trim called
4 16:10:49.724 :info: db_pile_status
4 16:10:49.727 :info: db_pile_status_done
4 16:10:49.727 :info: unable to read spawned expire status file
4 16:10:49.736 :info: dnews_status 1
4 16:10:49.736 :info: dnews_status 2
4 16:10:49.736 :info: dnews_status 3
4 16:10:49.736 :info: Timezone Offset 28800 dst 0
Is this "unable to read spawned expire status file" something I need to worry
about?
Thanks in advance for your help on this.
