Hi there,

It is stressed that for performance reason the number of buckets of the

entire spool should not exceed 3000 and the bucket size should not larger
than 100Mb. Does this mean DNews has a performance problem if the spool is
larger than 3000x100mb=300GB?

Not exactly, you can increase the bucket size to 1000mb and you can increase
the number of buckets to 9000

However, it depends what you are putting in the buckets, you may hit problems
if you try and store non binaries as the other
index limitations would very likely be hit, I recommend using surgenews for
new installations particularly large systems
like this. See http://netwinsite.com/surgenews

We are running a site with full feed and a spool of 6TB. I gave SurgeNews a
trial a few months back. Is SurgeNews now ready for prime time?

You may hit minor teething problems but yes it's ready and I would recommend it for a new site yes. If you have an already running system with dnews I wouldn't convert over yet as there is no simple conversion, instead I would wait until you hit a real problem in dnews or did a hardware upgrade for some other reason.
