My dnews server crashed on monday (CPU fan died and it overheated).
After bringing it back up some newsgroups were acting alittle funny
in that posts wouldn't show up and then the newsgroup would show it
had no messages. Errors in dnews.log said "Index corrupt, item in
wrong group" so I ran a rebuild_index (which only takes 15 minutes
or so on this server). It found the posts and everything worked.
After that every 3-10 hours the same thing happens (and rebuilding
the index fixes it). It usually happened overnight so I thought
maybe it is the expire process. Today I ran the expire process
manually mid day and the problem didn't happen but now (about 3 hours
later) I've got the problem again. It seems to be the same groups
(some local and some usenet).

My dnews.log doesn't look healthy and on a rebuild index writes pages of:
":info: db: Removing duplicate item from group gid=..."

I've tried a couple of the other rebuild commands but I can't claim I'm
much of a dnews expert. I've been running it for over 10 years but it so
rarely needs work that I've forgotten much of what I once knew about the
program.

What other information should I include? What is the best next step?
                                                -Fred
