Make sure gir1.2-gdkpixbuf-2.0 is installed (or better, just reinstall it.) Make sure you have some icons installed. Look in /usr/share/icons and look in the apps menu under Settings, Appearance, Icons. You should see Adwaita, Gnome, Mate, Menta and Tango. Those are my best guesses right now. The installer should have left an error log in your home.
