It's been a couple of years, so I may not remember all the steps:

1. Clone this repo:
<https://github.com/RPi-Distro/firmware-nonfree>

2. Once you clone it, you'll have a directory in there called
   brcm80211; cd into that.

3. In the brcm80211 directory there is a brcm directory. Copy that
   entire brcm directory as is into /lib/firmware.

4. Attempting to use wlan0 should automatically load brcmfmac and
   associated modules.

That's all you need as far as I remember.
