For what its worth..

1 B-node: Broadcast - no WINS
2 P-node: Peer - WINS only
4 M-node: Mixed - broadcast, then WINS
8 H-node: Hybrid - WINS, then broadcast

I believe that to be a correct and complete list for dhcp-option=46 (46 netbios-nodetype)

I use 2, because I use wins.

You might set your log level up a bit in samba and look in your log.nmbd and see if the hosts are actually registering with wins, is your samba server at 10.7.0.2?
