Hallo, Richard, Du meintest am 10.02.11:
>> when I use the ISC DHCP, then I can see the name of the Windows >> client in "/var/state/dhcp/dhcp.leases". >> >> With dnsmasq as DNS and DHCP server I haven't found this feature - >> is it somewhere hidden? > near the bottom of the dnsmasq man page you will find the following > section: > FILES*/etc/dnsmasq.conf* > */usr/local/etc/dnsmasq.conf* > */etc/resolv.conf* > */etc/hosts* > */etc/ethers* > */var/lib/misc/dnsmasq.leases* > */var/db/dnsmasq.leases* > */var/run/dnsmasq.pid* Thank you! And into which of these files does dnsmasq write the client's name (the name the client presents when it asks for an IP adress)? I haven't yet found any such name in any of these files, and I haven't yet found an option or switch to make dnsmasq more verbose in this special case. Viele Gruesse! Helmut
