I think this is cute / clever, but a very bad idea. Experience from IPv4 and IPv6 private use areas shows that there will be collisions and they will be painful. The first line of the abstract is wrong. Every properly registered domain name is a private-use namespace. The desire for shortness is why the DNS has search paths and unqualified domain names.
