I encounter the same bug, my credentials do not validate even though I tried several times.
I have used wireshark to sniff network traffic and I could see the http://twitter.com/statuses/friends.xml getting transferred correctly. However, I don't really know what happens in the code after this transfer. Maybe gnome-do cannot succeed in creating the account in the gnome keyring, although it works for google related plugins. I am using gnome-do version 0.5.0.1-0~ppa1~hardy with the Twitter plugin automatically downloaded using the Preferences window.
