Sweden is one of the e-democracy hot spots to watch. From a
governmental interest perspective interest is very high. The
difference is that you are beginning to see public funded research
and real efforts and not just supportive talk.

The Swedish Commission of Inquiry on Democracy, appointed by the
Minister of Democracy, recently launched a new version of its site
Democracy Square, http://www.demokratitorget.gov.se. Visitors now can
take active part of the debate on democracy by discussing with the
delegates of the commission. The present topic regards the question
why young people abandon party politics. Commission reports and
writings are available as pdf-files. The site also provides
opportunities for municipalities or organizations to apply for money
to democracy projects. There is also a calendar of events and an
extensive link list.
