/ Jirka Kosek <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> was heard to say: | If you want include equations in DocBook (and don't want to use MathML) | you can insert equations by usual DocBook way: | | <inlineequation> | <alt>E = mc^2</alt> | <inlinemediaobject> | <imageobject> | <imagedata fileref="eq1.gif"/> | </imageobject> | </inlinemediaobject> | </inlineequation>
With respect, I think that's abuse of the alt tag. Might I suggest instead supporting this with: <inlineequation> <inlinemediaobject> <imageobject> <imagedata fileref="eq1.gif"/> </imageobject> <textobject><phrase>E=mc squared</phrase></textobject> <textobject role="tex"><phrase>E=mc^2</phrase></textobject> </inlinemediaobject> </inlineequation> (I note that the current stylesheets assume that they can choose the first textobject with a phrase which will no longer be true.) | You should process this file with TeX or LaTeX to get DVI file. Then run | dvi2bitmap utility on the DVI. Images for all equations in document are | created -- you have also HTML document with math. Isn't it nice. ;) Very cool.
