An XSL-FO processor can adjust table column widths to fit the content, but only if it supports the table-layout="auto" property on tables. Unfortunately, FOP currently does not. You have to put column width specifications in your table instances.

Columns in table do not have widths proper to their content. Column space is simply devided
equally between all the columns.

Is there a parameter to set so that column have witdth proper to its content?

I'm using FOP v0.94 and Docbook v1.73.2.

Xuan.
