OASIS members and other interested parties, Members of the OASIS DocBook TC [1] have recently approved a Special Majority Ballot [2] to advance DocBook Version 5.1 as a Candidate OASIS Standard (COS). The COS now enters a 60-day public review period in preparation for a member ballot to consider its approval as an OASIS Standard.
DocBook Version 5.1 Candidate OASIS Standard 01 23 June 2016 Specification Overview: DocBook is a general purpose [XML] schema particularly well suited to books and papers about computer hardware and software (though it is by no means limited to these applications). The Version 5.1 release introduces assemblies for topic-oriented authoring. It also addresses a selection of bugs and feature requests. The Technical Committee provides the DocBook 5.1 schema in other schema languages, including W3C XML Schema and an XML DTD, but the RELAX NG Schema is the normative schema. DocBook Version 5.1 received 3 Statements of Use from Norman Walsh, Sagehill Enterprises and LexisNexis [3]. TC Description: The DocBook Technical Committee maintains the DocBook family of schemas. Public Review Period: The 60-day public review starts 09 September 2016 at 00:00 UTC and ends 07 November 2016 at 23:59 UTC. This is an open invitation to comment. OASIS solicits feedback from potential users, developers and others, whether OASIS members or not, for the sake of improving the interoperability and quality of its technical work.
