The bullet one looks pretty good... You can get a good sense of what level you are at, and it doesn't take up too much space.
Maybe we could make the bullets links to the higher-up sections? (though that would clearly not be intuitive, but great once you get used to it)
I think that's what Allan meant, by looking at the [1|2|3]
But I think the [1|2|3] is less intuitive, because you get the links but the level can't be seen as easily (at least not its relation to the title)
