well, did we change it because of inconsitency or because of
how it looked?

the consitency _was_:

menu, breadcrumb, title:
helvetica, arial, verdana, sans-serif

body:
verdana, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;


we could possibly try:
arial, helvetica, verdana,  sans-serif;

=> not good letter-spacing (;


but verdana on my platform here has the best overall font-qualities
