I cannot tell since the italics style looks fine on my machine.

Regarding the enclosing box (which doesn't appear on NS4/linux), I don't know if adding more boxes is a good idea. We have too many already.

I suggest to have a different approach to make it stand out: Make it narrower than the page width. It's very hard to read wide text.

I also suggest again to drop, the phrase after 'Lincoln Stein', this will make the name more prominent. At least there should be a line break after it. I'm not sure what's the latest version that Per Einar had presented earlier.

Ideally we should have made the whole site narrower so it's easier to read. However code samples won't let us do that. Another reason is that using absolute width is a bad idea too. I guess we could use em's for that too, though I'm not sure if it's doable.

Oh, and you have dropped the fading out part of the line. That's good I think. have you changed something else that I didn't notice? CVS diffs are always easier to review, I understand that you've changed index.html in place, so this wasn't possible.
