Hi,

I think it's confusing because commented lines are said to be IGNORED.
If the \ at the end is INTERPRETED, this is not the same thing as IGNORED.

Not only I think it's confusing, but it really confuses my team so that we
ended searching the cause of this strange behavior and lost something like an
hour. Like I said, the syntax highlighting of vim does not show the fact the
second line is a comment (Yes, I should open a bug somewhere for this).

I don't think the code should be modified, but a clear comment about this in
the documentation would be fine, like "Warning : commented lines are ignored
(they have no effect on the behavior of Apache) BUT they ARE interpreted, so an
\ at the end of a comment makes the following line a comment too."

IMO, the configuration should be easy and unambiguous as possible.
