            Bug ID: 70052
Summary: RewriteRule Flags: DPI|discardpath inconsistent about
                    PATH_INFO vs URL-path
           Product: Apache httpd-2
           Version: 2.5-HEAD
          Hardware: All
               URL: https://httpd.apache.org/docs/trunk/en/rewrite/flags.h
                    tml#flag_dpi
                OS: All
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: Documentation
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
  Target Milestone: ---

The DPI|discardpath section of the RewriteRule Flags page contains:
> The DPI flag causes the PATH_INFO portion of the rewritten URL-path to be
> discarded.
This implies PATH_INFO is included in the URL-path. Yet, the following sentence
(and the rest of the section) implies the opposite:
> In per-directory context, the URL-path each RewriteRule compares against is
> the concatenation of the current URL-path and PATH_INFO.
I recommend to:
1. Decide which it is, rewrite the section accordingly.
2. Link the first “URL-path” occurrence to its definition.
3. If a “URL-path” excludes PATH_INFO, specify that in the definition (see
issue #70036 for other issues with that definition).

By the way, it would clarify to put the whole example in a box or subsection,
so it is clearly separated from the rest.
